IT, EHR Go Dark at 13-Hospital System

A 20-hour computer outage affected 13 hospitals at BJC HealthCare in St. Louis this week. The outage led to manual patient management processes, without impact on patient or employee data. Such outages cost organizations significantly, with an average of $690,000 per incident, due to factors like lost revenue, business disruption, and end-user productivity shortfalls.
